This course covers the entire book of 1 Corinthians through expository teaching. Special focus is given to the issues dealt with by the early church and the solutions given. The role of the Holy Spirit in the early church will also be emphasized. The students are encouraged to use 1 Corinthians as an example of how to problem solve issues in the local church.
This course covers the entire book of Acts through expository teaching. Special focus is given to the biblical principles of the early church and how those principles were reflected in their practice. The role of the Holy Spirit in the Acts of the Apostles is also be emphasized. The students are encouraged to use Acts as an example of how to cultivate a Spirit-led and mission-driven relationship with the Lord.
APOLOGETICS - TH363 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
The course consists of an examination and evaluation of the argument for the truthfulness of Christianity. Emphasis will be given to the nature of truth, existence of God, evil, hell, the reliability of the Bible, deity of Christ, resurrection of Christ, and other elements that comprise the core doctrines of Christianity. In addition, attention will be directed to understanding the formation of the Christian canon of Scripture. Subjects include a study of biblical inspiration, canonization, transmission, translation and the role of archaeology as it supports the reliability of the Scriptures.
This course explores the special nature and unique character of the Bible. Emphasis is placed on enabling the student to understand the process God used to reveal the Scriptures and pass down the 66 books of the Bible to us in their present form. Topics such as Bible and culture, prolegomena, theme, inspiration, canonization, transmission, translation, paleography, perspectives, archaeology, and historical reliability of the Bible will be addressed.
This course is an overview of Pastor Chuck’s lectures on his philosophy of ministry, practices, and Biblical doctrines which are unique to the Calvary Chapel movement and make Calvary Chapel different from other churches. Systematic Theology Topics will be included in reference to Calvary Chapel Distinctives.
CHURCH ATTENDANCE - M180
A good leader is first a student of God’s Word and a member of a community of faith. Four semesters of Midweek or Sunday morning Church Attendance are required for graduation. Each class will also have required reading as part of the classroom assignment. This is included with Full Time Student Registration.
CHURCH HISTORY - TH301
A study into the flow of Church History with a deeper look at certain significant events, theology, and people associated with the growth of the Christian church from the apostolic era until the present. Consideration is given to the Church’s doctrine and practice, and how we can learn from past generations of Christians.
ESCHATOLOGY - TH410 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
Studies will be done in key topics dealing with what the Bible has to say about end times. The class will be taught from a pretribulational, premillenial point of view.
This course is a verse-by-verse study of Paul’s epistles. This class seeks to establish an understanding of the main themes of the epistles and develop a working knowledge of each chapter of the books. Students will see a glorious picture of Christ and His Church and the plan of God for His children
This course is a verse-by-verse expositional study in Genesis. By unearthing the many treasures of this amazing book, students learn how biblical history and theology are inseparable. Genesis is a foundational book of the Bible, accounting for the origins of the world, humanity, marriage, sin and suffering, the worldwide flood and of course, Israel. The focus of this class is both doctrinal and practical, with ample discussion devoted to both theology and application.
This course is to be a verse-by-verse exegetical study in the book of Hebrews. The objective of this class is to give the student a thorough working knowledge of Hebrews, including the major doctrines presented in the epistle. Emphasis is placed on the supremacy of Christ over angels, Moses, and the Levitical priesthood; as well as comparing the Old Testament Law and the temple versus Jesus
A class that provides training in the “how to” of public teaching of the Word of God. The student will walk through the steps of observation, interpretation and application with both oral and written assignments.
This course hopes to bring transformation to the student through a verse-by-verse study of John’s gospel; it is designed to impart exegetical understanding leading to a Christ-focused passion through the text, for His glory. The book is recognized as the unique fourth gospel that offers a portrait of Jesus Christ like no other book of the Bible.
LANGUAGE TOOLS: GREEK AND HEBREW - TH400 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
This course introduces Koine Greek, the language of the New Testament. The objective is to learn its grammar and to acquire a basic vocabulary. In the second semester the student may choose the “high road” traditional approach to Greek.
A look at the biblical process that God takes every leader through to develop his leadership capacity. This class will focus on the unique challenges that each stage of leadership development faces. Students will gain an understanding on how to recognize the stages of development a leader is in and how best to disciple them to the next stage.

PASTORAL MINISTRY - CL620 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
The student will learn through Bible teaching, instruction, and application the duty and call of Pastoral ministry. Specifically the student will learn how to properly perform weddings, funerals, hospital visitations, baby dedications and the importance of biblical counseling, teaching and ministry in general through the eyes of pastors who have been serving for many years.
PRACTICAL CHRISTIAN MINISTRY - M199
Students serve in various tasks at their home church, applying the practical aspects of Christianity and servanthood as they learn to follow Christ. Four semesters of Practical Christian Ministry are required for graduation. Each class will also have required reading as part of the classroom assignment. PREACHING - PT305 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
This course is designed to train men and women to be effective teachers of the Bible in a variety of settings. Learning from the life and teaching practices of Jesus Christ, the Master Teacher. Students study how to understand the original meaning of a passage of Scripture, how to capture a learner’s interest and hold it, how to clearly communicate the truth of Scripture, and how to help followers of Jesus integrate the biblical message into contemporary life.
The Book of Revelation is a prophetic work of great importance. In this course, the Book of Revelation will be taught expositionally in order to help students achieve a clear understanding of its teaching regarding Jesus Christ, the Church, and the future.
The course is a verse-by-verse study of the book of Romans, a book long regarded as the most systematic presentation of the doctrine of salvation in the Bible. Students will look carefully at how the saving life of Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, can transform lives.
This course will be a look at Biblical counseling through the Self Confrontation handbook. The Self-Confrontation manual is a 24-lesson reference, designed to direct you back to the Bible for daily living. Useful for personal growth and discipleship, Self-Confrontation will help you learn how the Bible is sufficient and applicable to produce lasting victory in every circumstance and relationship, no matter how difficult.
THEOLOGY OF WORSHIP - WO320 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
This course will be an in depth look at worship throughout the Bible, in order to understand the nuances of worship, the original language behind the terms we use today, and Biblical practices that we use in the Body of Christ.
WORSHIP MINISTRY ADMINISTRATION - WO327 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
Music has always played an integral role in the life and activity of the church. This course is designed to practically equip those who feel called to lead the local church in music. Students will discuss the topic of worship in the context of God’s Word, developing a theological foundation of worship and it’s place in the personal and congregational setting. Emphasis will be placed on developing practical systems for worship ministry to function.
WORSHIP SONGWRITING - WO330 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
The sound of a new song is one of the signs of a revived Church. This class will focus on basic musicianship skills and the writing of new worship songs for congregational use. Select songs will be recorded and distributed as part of a compilation at the end of the school year.
WORSHIP TEAM PRACTICUM - WO331 (UNDER DEVELOPMENT)
The purpose of this class is to give the student spiritual insight on worship, and practical instruction regarding worship leading. The student will also have the opportunity for hands-on experience of leading worship in a band setting, and participate in leading worship in a local church.
